Sylvania smart-home retrofit, done quietly.

Retrofit smart lighting, blinds, and climate across a two-storey home without ripping the walls open. Everything controlled from one app, or from physical switches that still feel like switches.

Client had tried the DIY route — Google Home, a pile of smart globes, a relay here and there. Six months in, nothing talked to anything else and the wife had gone back to the light switch. Our brief: fix it, keep it simple, make it invisible.

We went Clipsal Wiser across the main zones. Existing cabling stayed — the value in Wiser is you swap the mech, not the cable. Every switch still works as a switch. The app is a bonus, not a requirement.

Lighting: 42 points across the house grouped into scenes — morning, dinner, movie, away. Dimming on every circuit we could retrofit a trailing-edge dimmer into. Colour temp tuning on the kitchen and living downlights.

Blinds: six motorised roller blinds on the north and west glazing, wired back to a Somfy hub that talks to Wiser. Set to close at 28°C inside or when the sun angle triggers glare in the afternoon.

Climate: integrated the existing Daikin ducted system via a Madoka wall unit and a Wiser climate tile. One app, zoned control, and a schedule that actually follows the family's rhythm instead of fighting it.

Four days on site, no plaster repairs, no re-paint. Client's wife uses the app now — best review we could ask for.
